MAINTENANCE & SERVICE

As with any other functional product you’ve purchased before, proper maintenance is the key, As you use your screen(s) more and more, we ask that you follow these simple maintenance tips to ensure a smooth and worry-free operation of your retractable screen(s). Proper maintenance will reduce the effects of normal wear and tear. To ensure good, smooth operation of the retractable screen’s moving parts, keep a can of silicone spray handy. Spray the top and bottom rails after cleaning, keeping the rails lubricated and free of dirt. Do not scrub the aluminum parts as this may damage the painted surface. To clean the screen vacuum with an upholstery brush, taking care not to snag the screen material.

Retractable Screen Doors Maintenance Tips

  • Retractable Screen Systems should be fully retracted into their protective housing when not in use. This will prevent unnecessary buildup of dust and debris on the screen material
  • Retractable Screen Systems should be retracted in excessive wind conditions (such as a violent storm). Excessive wind loads may affect the ability of the unit to operate correctly. Using the screen(s) on unusually windy days may cause the mesh to sail out of its track
  • Always use the handle(s) to slide your screens across and ensure you have a firm grip at all times
  • Educate your kids and guests on the safe use of your retractable screens
  • Although our Retractable Screens feature the Safe Glide safety feature, any spring loaded system will retract if the mesh is lightly bumped. Do not push the screen to release the magnetic latch; this may damage the screen over time
  • When retracting the screen, ensure the mesh rolls in evenly. Retracting the product with creases in the screen may cause wrinkles
  • Retractable Screen Systems are intended to provide reasonable insect control. They are not intended to retain or secure animals or persons inside or outside of your home
  • Ensure tracks are kept free of dirt and debris which may cause the screen to perform poorly by using a brush or vacuum. Spray dry silicone on the both top and bottom tracks to ensure smooth glide once or twice a year
  • Screen mesh, housing tracks and pull bars can be cleaned with water and a soft cloth. We do not recommend using a pressure washer or chemicals; a mild detergent such as dish soap should be used for this purpose. After cleaning the Screen mesh, allow it to dry before retracting it back into the housing
  • Avoid stepping on bottom tracks as the slide bar will not glide properly if warping occurs

Motorized Power Screens Maintenance Tips

  • Please read carefully your owner’s manual after your installer has shown you how to operate your screens
  • Screen Systems should be fully retracted into their protective storage housing when not in use. This will prevent unnecessary buildup of dust and debris on the screen material
  • Motorized screens should be observed while they are in operation. If any objects are left under a motorized unit this may prevent the unit from lowering properly. Should this happen, gently lift the weight bar up and remove the object
  • Educate your kids and guests on the safe use of your motorized screens
  • Leaning up against any of the tracks or screen material should be avoided as the additional weight may cause the screens to shift or malfunction
  • Power Failures can affect a motorized unit’s operation. Ensure that the system is still getting power by checking the circuit breakers and ground faults for resetting
  • Remote control units have a limited battery life. If the remote control’s light does not come on when the buttons are depressed, the battery may be exhausted
